Runscapes #12

Saturday’s Run
Around the 5 mile mark a female ran past me. She had young boy on a bicycle riding beside her. I turned the corner to spot her running off into the underbrush while her son waited on the path...
How many of you have taken a potty break along the path?

How Many Socks?

My new best friends – Wigwams!

I originally bought these for my first trail run. I wanted a cushiony sock that covered the ankles. Most of the trail socks have wool in them.
Wool = itchiness - > me!
Unfortunately, these wool free socks ended up being too thick for my Pegs.
When the cooler weather arrived, I dug them out and slipped them on.
Buttery soft with steadfast warmth. I never take them off!
(Well...just to wash 'em.)

Sock Trivia:

  • By 1,000 AD, socks became a symbol of wealth among the nobility. (Wiki)
  • Socks are foot specific. Huh, no one told me that…
  • Some people run in socks. They call them Vibram.

Online or Journal

I've been using Cool Running's log for years. (First entry - Dec. 2001) I like the program because you can download your running log into Excel and save for offline viewing.
Recently I also started using Breaking The Tape's log because they have some nifty Blog scripts you can include on your web page (see my sidebar) that dynamically updates your runs.
The writers of RUNNING WITHIN highly recommend keeping a logbook. And not just to keep track of the miles but for mental notations. (Emotional - spiritual?)
You could also do some sketching and add pictures and mementos.
I'm thinking of picking up a small blank book journal tomorrow...
